Meetings
SWW meetings are a great place for writers to gather, network, and learn. Members are encouraged to share their successes and announcements. And the speakers are awesome!
Regular meetings are held on the second Saturday of every month from 10:00 am to noon and the fourth Wednesday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm (no Wednesday meeting in December).
To protect our members’ health during the Covid-19 emergency, SWW turned to Zoom to conduct our meetings from May 2020 through September 2021. On October 2, 2021, SWW returned to in-person gatherings for our Saturday meetings but in a new location: UNM Continuing Education (UNM-CE). Our Saturday meetings still include a Zoom component, but our Wednesday night meetings are strictly online. Go to the SWW Meeting Location page for more information about our meetings at UNM-CE.

Classes
SouthWest Writer’s classes help writers advance their skills and marketability during the course of several sessions. The classes are open to the public. Class fees are kept low to encourage participation. Experienced instructors guide participants through lecture, example and, often, critique to increase the quality of their writing. Classes can include assignments to be completed outside of that class period. For a list of our current offerings, go to our Classes page.
Workshops
During our 2-hour Saturday workshops (after the regular meeting), experienced instructors guide participants through lecture and example to increase their marketability and the quality of their writing. Any work required of the students is done during that session. The workshops are open to the public and fees are kept low to encourage participation. Conferences
Writing conferences are usually held once or twice a year (but Covid-19 put those plans on hold for several years). Each conference brings well-known experts in a specific genre as well as critical information relevant to all fields of writing. Visit our Conferences page for updates.
