The workshop will discuss practical aspects of the “who, what, when, where, and how” of copyright compliance. It will address issues that anyone who wants to use content created by others needs to know BEFORE doing so. Topics discussed in detail will include: copyright laws, fair use, public domain, Creative Commons, copyright searches, Internet sources, song lyrics, permissions requests, and planning to reduce and manage risks associated with using other people’s content. Common myths and misconceptions about copyright will also be addressed. Attendees also will have the opportunity to submit questions related to copyright prior to the workshop.
