Writers Helping Writers Succeed for 40 Years!
SWW had its beginnings in the early 1980s as New Mexico Romance Writers (NMRW) with five members. In 1984, the organization had grown to about 150 members—and NMRW voted to change its name and open the group to writers of all genres. Officially established as a 501C3 non-profit in 1984, SWW has 400 members, some of whom are beginning writers and some who have garnered national or international acclaim. Our over arching focus is providing a friendly, encouraging atmosphere for those who wish to pursue literary excellence.
The 40th Anniversary party takes place during the October meeting at UNM-CE in Albuquerque (click here for directions). Everyone is encouraged to contribute to the potluck, and a cake and beverages are provided. It will be a fun time as we celebrate with awards, music, and a raffle. Here is a look at the agenda:

Mosaic Voices is the title of SWW’s latest winner’s anthology. It contains the top award winners in every category of the 2024 Prose and Poetry writing contest. You can get your copy of the book before it is announced to the public at the event for the special member’s only price of $15.00!
